Look over there, pal… it’s Camera+ 4.2!

And here are the release notes…

So the previous version of Camera+ had a little bug where burst-mode shooting would crash. We fixed that.

We almost stopped there and just called it version 4.0.3, but then figured that it’d be the perfect time to boost burst-mode snaps to full-resolution on devices that could handle it (like the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, and the unapologetically poorly-selling iPhone 5c).

That was enough to justify calling it version 4.1. And then we thought about jumping on the bandwagon where we put Camera+ out as a whole new app and let existing customers pay for it all over again. And of course there’d be the ensuing sh__storm where those customers felt cheated and we’d have to backpedal and reverse that shortsighted decision.

So it was Clear that that would’ve been a knuckleheaded move, so instead we decided to treat our lovely customers fairly and make Camera+ 4.1 a free update as we’ve always done. But then we felt like it was all give and no take… so to make us feel better about giving-in too easily, we chose to call it version 4.2. That’ll teach you to mess with us.

Then we felt bad about jumping ahead two version numbers and giving you little for your troubles. So we added a new effects pack that includes all the filters that Apple’s standard Camera and Photo apps include (for users on iOS 7). Two hours of coding (and eight trivial Core Image filters later), the Standard Effects Pack was born.

Why do you say the iPhone 5c is “unapologetically poorly-selling”? It’s the #2 or #3 most popular phone from all 3 major carriers. Why make me feel bad about my phone?

@Mike I believe that would be called sarcasm. Pundits and “analysts” have been going on about how the 5c is over priced and won’t sell well.

I thought the update notes were hilarious. Nice jab at RealMac haha! I bought Clear+ anyway and if You guys decided to charge for a new version of Camera+ I’d pay for it too. I enjoy your apps and I like supporting the developers that make great software.

Thanks for another entertaining release note and update!

    Can’t. Stop. Laughing.
You could charge for those release notes alone. :D

    Love your app. Thank you.

I’d just like to say that instead of trying to be witty and catty in your Update Notes on the App Store to convey the need to charge for the work that you guys have done on the App, you should instead use what most games and other software use in order to get people to pay a couple of I’d just like to say that instead of trying to be witty and catty in your Update Notes on the App Store to convey the need to charge for the work that you guys have done on the App, you should instead use what most games and other software use in order to get people to pay a couple of measly bucks for legitimate work by using the In-App-Purchase mechanism. So if people want to “upgrade” their app to include additional features that you guys have spent a significant amount of time on, then have people spend a couple of bucks to use the IAP model to UPGRADE their app. To me, that’s the most balanced solution.

Please don’t go to an In-App-Purchase model. It actually would drive me away from using the app. I like paying the $2 for the whole app and not being tricked into paying $15 on an app that was said to be free.

    IAPs are the worst

    Ok thank you….but…
Still I have the problem that in edit mode the main image preview doesn’t update itself when you drag the slider of the efx.

Hi, Cam+ is THE photo app I love and use regularly. I’m just sad it still doesn’t have selective masking (like @tadaa) & true HDR like iOS native app.
Any plans to integrate either of them?

Did you put in a new Standard Effects, or did you just intend to put in a new Standard Effects Lack? I upgraded and I don’t see it. Great app, keep up the good work.

    Autocorrect strikes again ;)

Just noticed you said iOS 7, that probably explains it. Haven’t updated yet, will look forward to trying this later…

The makers of TapTapTap can by all means be the corporate “man” that screws the little people by charging extra for every little detail, but they continually choose to do the right thing when there is nothing to prevent them from doing otherwise. Their philanthropy in giving beaucoup bucks to various charities with their Macheist bundles should not go unnoticed. You have a lifelong supporter in me because of these business ethics. And the Camera+ and Convert apps are always on my front page to boot.

My friends at the NSA tell me you might be working on an update so we can use the Sony QX-10/100.
I bought one last week - it’s pretty good, but their software is a mess. (or as Tommy Lee Jones says in ‘No Country for Old Men’ - “if it ain’t a mess, it’ll do ‘til the real mess gets here”). Let us know if (and when) it’s happening.

Well, when can we expect the QX10/100 support….then? (please..)

Since the news about Camera+ for Sony QX cameras was mentioned around I have been waiting. Camera360 for Android supports them now, but not the Iphone version. I am an Iphone user with Camera+ and QX 10…..and…?

Well, I just bought this app after the many good reviews. Unfortunately on my 4S the app crashes immediately after taking a picture. I am using iOS 7.0.2 (11A501). Any Info regarding this and a possible fix?

tested the camera360 for qx10 - available yesterday - it is really only a copy of sony’s playmobile inside 360- I hope the camera+ 5 makes a better integration with the lenscam.
